As a part of the One Year for Jesus project a joint team of churches from St. Petersburg area made a missions trip to the town of Priozersk.
There were 10 team members from churches of the North-West Regional Association: Triune God Church of Priozersk, Good News Church of Pushkin, Message of Hope Church of Zelenogorsk, New Testament Church of St. Petersburg.
During ten days, besides outreaches in Priozersk, the team visited villages of Kuznechnoye, Bogatyri, Motornoye, Larionovo, Solnechnoye, Pochinok, Mullupelto, Sosnovo, Zaporozhye, Denisova, Snegiryovka.
Every day the team would go to a new village. In the first part of the day after morning devotions and prayers the team divided into smaller groups went to different parts of the village and visited homes, talked to people and invited them to evening concerts at a local convention center. In the evening our mime team was ready to show skits and dramas that made people think about faith in God and meaning of life. Then after music and songs there was a salvation message and an altar call.
During this missions trip 37 people from 10 to 94 years old opened their hearts to Jesus and invited Him to be their Lord and Savior.
This trip changed hearts of our team members as well. We got stronger in faith as we witnessed real answers to our prayers – people were saved and healed. We helped one homeless man to find a place to live and recover at a rehabilitation center of the Triune God Church in Priozersk.
This is what one of the team members, Anna Tsvetkova (17 years old), says about the trip:
“In the village of Kuznechoye we had our first evening concert and we prayed that God would bring people who really needed to hear about Him and His love. And God answered our prayer – 15 young girls came to the meeting, and 6 of them accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Every evening there were a lot of children, their hearts are the most open and ready to accept the Good News. All children received children’s Books of Hope and candy.
In the village of Pochinok we got permission to hold our meeting for children at a local library. But the librarian strictly warned us: no preaching the Gospel! But towards the end of our meeting she was the first to start asking questions about our faith in God and started to reason about God and His mercy. She said to children that they just needed to ask God and He would help. At the end the librarian wanted us to pray for her and the kids. I am very thankful to God for everything He did during this trip.”
This labor is being made with one purpose – to awaken Russian people spiritually. Enough of materialism, it’s time to start thinking about spiritual life. We sincerely believe that our generation will see spiritual renewal in our country.
