MIASS (RUSSIA) - Recently, youth from the Holy Trinity Church of Miass in Chelyabinsk region ministered to children in one of the recovery centers. Children stay there after they have undergone medical treatment in a hospital. Usually they stay there for three-four weeks untill full recovery. Children were so open and friendly that greeted us very warmly, and some of them offered us hand made crafts.
The program was devoted to friendship. We quickly made friends with children. We not only learned names of all the children, but also some individual characteristics of each child – their favorite meals, school subjects, dreams. Children frankly shared what disturbed their hearts – someone had sick relatives or had no parents. We didn't miss the opportunity and prayed for needs of these children.
Such open communication served as a good basis for presenting the Biblical truth: “Jesus is our best friend. He is always there for us and will never leave us. We can always ask God for help”. With great interest and attention kids watched a puppet show and participated in the quiz after the show. They have learned that in any situation we must pray to God and hope for His help. At the end of the program, each child received a beautiful, bright balloon, sweets and friendly hugs. Children and their caregivers were grateful for this event and invited young people to come back. Thank God for the opportunity to serve children.
