It’s all worth doing this work to see such changes in people’s lives!

Stories
ZYKOVO (TRANS-BAIKAL, RUSSIA) - In the village of Zykovo of the Trans-Baikal region we met two men who worked in the field. They immediately noticed us because we were new people in their village. We introduced ourselves and explained why we came. One of the two men left soon after, but we stayed to talk with another one who was drunk. I do not know why, but we stayed to tell the man about Christ. While talking with him, we learned that he fought in war actions in Chechnya. He started asking us questions that were very difficult to answer. “Where was your God when people died?” His aggression grew with every word and our attempts to give him an answer.

A moment came when I just did not know what to tell him, and I cried out to the Lord. I knew that if God did not intervene right away, nothing good would have come out of the conversation. Suddenly I said these words, “You need to repent.” There was a moment of silence, then he said, “All right.” I helped him to say a prayer of repentance. His eyes became bright and kind, as if filled with hope. The aggression was gone. He apologized for his rude behavior. Only the Lord can change a person in an instant. Only He can transform a heart full of pain, frustration, hopelessness, and fill it with faith, hope and love. It’s all worth doing this work to see such changes in people’s lives!
