On January 18 and 19, Grace of Jesus Christ Сhurch in Volgograd hosted Children's ministry training. The training was held by the head of the Children’s ministry Valentina Fedorova. The main theme was Discipleship. «Do your best to present yourself to God as one appproved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth» (2 Tim. 2:15).
We talked about the responsibility of children's ministers, about teamwork, about setting goals. It was emphasized that a child's spiritual growth is directly proportional to the spiritual growth of a children's minister.
At the training we looked into the aspects that help to wisely plan ministry to children. We minister to children in church and outside its walls, thus the question: «How to bring a child to Christ?» is relevant for both. Valentina, illuminating the subject, gave a clear plan based on the Scriptures. We are responsible not only for ourselves and our lives, but also for those children whom the Lord has entrusted to us.
It is important that a child's personal relationship with God would be the heart of our ministry. Valentina's words touched many of us: «What I cannot do, my God can.» Speaking about her own ministry experience, Valentina repeatedly stressed the importance of intimacy with God and that the ministry is simply impossible without prayer and fasting, constant changes of your character. The mission of ministry to children was also emphasized: «To bring a child to a transformation of his life through the truths of God's.»
It was a great time! We sang songs and worshiped God, played games, learned children's songs with motion. It was amazing: we were happy as children!
During the seminar, a meeting for parents was held. Valentina talked about the responsibility of fathers and mothers before God for the education of children and the importance of prayer for them. Without our prayers our children are like a city without walls, prone to attacks every day. The responsibility of parents is to share their faith with children, and to make them srong in the Lord, so that the following generations would keep their love and passion for Him.
