Lyubov Toulina: God is faithful

Stories
PERM (RUSSIA) - Lyubov had faith in God since her young years. After the World War II, when there was not enough food, Lyuba as a teenager, started to do heavy men’s work, to make the ends meet. Her brigade was taken to the north of Perm region, to the town of Krasnovishersk, where they worked on lumber mill. It was unbearable: severe climate, very lean food, no wages. It was not even promised.

Lyuba decided to go back home. There was no means of transportation and she went on foot. While walking, she motivated herself: «It is better to die striving for the goal, than to reconcile to the circumstances». In winter, without any food and warm clothes the girl was on the road for 17 days. Some kind people would give her a little bread, which they didn’t have much. When it was a few miles till home, she was without any strength to continue. She decided to get some rest in a stack of hay. She was fast asleep and in her dream she saw her mother, a warm stove and pies: she felt she was getting warm… And suddenly, somebody pushed her. She woke up and didn’t see anybody. She went around the haystack, but didn’t see any traces. Then Lyuba realized it was an angel, who was sent by God.

What happened next helped to strengthen her faith in God. She was so sick and weak because of starvation, that the local doctor watched her. Every day he would come and fed her, he didn’t allow giving her more than one spoonful of broth at each meal. A whole month Lyuba stayed in a warm bed that was made on the top of a Russian stony stove. Only several years later, Lyuba understood that if it hadn’t been for God’s helper, chances to live would have been very scarce for her.

This year Lyubov Terentievna celebrated 80 years old. Her eyesight is bad and she can’t read any more. But she was so glad when missionaries gave her an audio bible. They prayed for her healing. And she renewed her commitment to the Lord.
