Finding joy

Stories
PERM (RUSSIA) - Svetlana woke up one morning and felt shame because she had been drinking with friends too much lately. She drank so much alcohol that didn’t remember anything. It wasn’t the first time she felt such shame and guilt, but she definitely thought it was the only way to live. She didn’t see any meaning to life after her mother’s tragic death that was run over by a train. Some time later, Svetlana’s father was attacked and violently beaten in the street, by unknown people. For two days he was in an intensive care ward and died, because the wounds were mortal.

This double tragedy caused such emotional shock, that Svetlana started to suppress her feeling of grief by drinking alcohol. Depression and despair wouldn’t leave her… In such a state of mood Svetlana met our team that came to her town and told her about the love of Christ and His redemptive work on the cross. Young woman didn’t hesitate to pray the prayer of salvation and invited Jesus into her heart. She was given a copy of the New Testament and an invitation to a Christian meeting, which she gratefully accepted. Svetlana is happy and thankful, her life is not hopeless any more.
