In Russia this war is being refer to as the Great Patriotic War, as the Russian people defended their land and defeated the Nazis. Many lost their lives for the freedom, and to this day we remember their heroic deeds. Almost every family in Russia has grandparents that participated in the war. Head Bishop Edward Grabovenko expressed sincere congratulations on the Victory Day:

“Dear friends! Please accept sincere congratulations on the remarkable day, the 70th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War!

Our grandfathers and fathers paid a valuable price that we and our children could live in peace. The Great Patriotic War will always be the greatest example and deed of faith, perseverence and courage of the Russian people.

We pray that God would keep our nation in peace. May the freedom that was reached by the cost of great sacrifice would never be violated. We thank God for the time of freedom and grace in which we live, and bless those who were participants or witnesses of those tragic events.

Let's keep the peace, cherish each other and pray for the prosperity of our land.

God bless you!

Sincerely,

Edward Grabovenko
