KALININGRAD – On October 4 and 5, a marriage conference took place in Kaliningrad. The key speaker of the conference was the Head of Marriage department of the Russian Church of Christians of Evangelical Faith Vladimir Khvalov (Rostov-on-Don).
The event was organized at the invitation of the Emmanuel church. The first six sessions were for the married couples from different churches. Besides the teaching about Christian marriage there were many prayers for the families during the conference.
Bishop Vladimir Khvalov talked with married couples and youth about the principles of a happy marriage. The bishop devoted a whole day to the families of the priesthood. Vladimir Alexandrovich talked with them about the problems that often emerge in the families of pastors, who are responsible not only for their own families but for the church as well. He gave practical recommendations on getting out of crisis and restoring freshness in a marriage.
After the Sunday service the bishop took part in a youth talk-show where he answered the young Christians’ questions about getting ready for marriage.
“My wife and I noticed that the youth do not thoroughly understand the essence of a Christian marriage, the depth of the covenant, at the heart of which is dedication to each other, the desire to give birth and raise the children, — said the bishop. — Usually most of the questions are standard: if they can kiss before marriage, how to choose a partner. We decided to perform a special consecration, and prayerfully, as spiritual parents, passed the older generation’s blessing to the youth. This is really important, because they need more anointing than us, to be able to accept new challenges that the church and every Christian face today”.
In conclusion of the conference some families testified that God was working deeply with them, healing their spiritual wounds, restoring ruined relationships. As a result many married couples felt happier in their marriage.
