At the Russian Church National Conference in Perm, the preacher quoted Pastor David Yonghi Cho about prayer.
Bishop Sergei Linnik, head of the Foreign Missions Department, began his sermon with a quote from Pastor David Yongi Cho: “Much prayer is much power. Little prayer — little power. No prayer — no power.”
“There is a perception that God does nothing without our prayers. Jesus prayed, the apostles prayed, the church also needs to pray, and raise their level of prayers to a higher level,” the minister said.
The preacher urged the church to be united in the Word and prayer.
The minister spoke about the five facets of prayer:
1. Prayer of commitment — “Lord, what do You want me to do?”.
2. Prayer of power — applying God's power to the improvement of one's soul and one's environment.
3. Prayer of petition — for one's own needs and the needs of loved ones.
4. Prayer of agreement — in unity with other believers.
5. The prayer of intercession — for one's city, country and for future generations.
According to the bishop, the prayer of intercession is the greatest facet, the Lord likes it when we take someone's pain and “stand in the breach” for Him.
Sergei Linnik noted that we have a high level of worship and theological education, but it is very important that intercessory prayer is at the highest level in the personal life of the believer.
The minister inspired to be conscious intercessors before the Lord.
