MOSCOW – On October 30, the VI plenary session of Christian Interdenominational Advisory Committee (CIAC) took place in Moscow President Hotel. The key topic of the meeting was “The imperishable power of the Gospel and its’ meaning for the contemporary society”.
The CIAC is the largest forum in Eurasia unifying representatives of all traditional Christian denominations from 15 countries of former Soviet Union.
The participants of the CIAC in 2019 were representatives of Russian Orthodox church, Roman Catholic church, Evangelical Lutheran church and Armenian Apostolic church, Old Believers creed, Baptist, Pentecostal and Adventist churches, unions and communities of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kirgizia, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Russia, Tadzhikistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Estonia.
The Russian Church of Christians of Evangelical Faith was represented by Head of Administration of the Head bishop of the Russian Church of Christians of Evangelical Faith Ivan Borichevsky, Director of Moscow Theological Institute Sergei Yastrzhembsky, Senior presbyter of Central Association of the Russian Church of Christians of Evangelical Faith Boris Dikidji and pastor of Pavlovski Posad church of Christians of Evangelical Faith Mikhail Shabronov.
Ivan Borichevsky, along with representatives of other unions and churches, addressed the high assembly with the word of greeting.
Three plenary meetings took place at the forum, the participants listened to the spotlight presentations and then took part in the discussion.
During the roundtable discussions the participants discussed four topics: “Following Christ. To be a Christian today”, “Peacemaker: evangelical way”, “Gospel: moral compass in the contemporary society”, “Gospel and ministry to the neighbor”.
Panel discussions, backroom fellowship, informal socializing were devoted to topics of interest: serving the society, opposing the harmful for the church liberalism, but at the same time, building relationships between people and the church at an approachable level. The CIAC allows to set aside the cultural and traditional division, so that the Church of Christ could fulfill the Great Commission – to preach the Word of God to the remotest part of the earth.
