KALUGA REGION (RUSSIA) - Lately our team made several trips to the villages of Kaluga area. The most interesting and fruitful was the trip to the town of Pogorelovka in Pereshmylski district.
The trip was memorable because the doors of almost every home were opened, people were willing to listen to the evangelists, shared their trials and stories of their lives. One of the brightest memories was a talk with a woman named Natalyia. She has had a difficult life: many years this woman spent in prison, was released recently, and does not keep terms with her relatives. Now that she has to start all over again, it’s a challenge, but she does her best not to be discouraged. It sure feels good to be free, but what do you do, if you don’t feel free on the inside, as if something keeps disturbing you and gives you no peace? Essentially, it’s the same prison, only spiritual. Who releases you from a prison like that?...
When Nataliya received a message that God loves her and is willing to help her become a new person, she was confused, because she couldn’t understand what she did to earn God’s love. But God doesn’t need a reason to love, and it is impossible to earn His love, it is enough just to be ready to accept it. Nataliya’s excitement was boundless!
She was trembling as she wrapped the New Testament that was given to her, realizing, that she holds something really important for her. Nataliya, as well as many other Pogorelovka residents, were receptive to the missionaries’ offer to come and visit her. We believe that Jesus will help many more people to change their lives and receive His gift of salvation!
