“Many are called, but few are chosen”

Stories

NABEREZHNYE CHELNY (TATARSTAN, RUSSIA) - It happened in a Tatar village. We met a woman. Her name was Vera (which means “Faith”). She was about 55 years old. We began our conversation by simply asking her, “Do you believe in Jesus Christ?” She said, “Yes.” “Do you believe that He died for your sins and rose again on the third day?” The woman replied, “Yes.” Then we invited her to pray for salvation. She agreed. We prayed together and gave her a small New Testament.

She was very happy to receive the gift and said that it would be convenient to take it with her. Rejoicing, we went on to the closest household. There I met my former colleague. When having learned about the purpose of our visit, she refused to listen to us…. “Many are called, but few are chosen”, says the Bible (Matthew 22:14).
