BRYANSK (RUSSIA) - On March 12, evangelical churches in the city of Bryansk held a citywide family event “My family reads the Bible”. Parents and children from different churches and from the city came together to glorify God for His gift – the Bible.
When guests entered the church building, they apppeared in a photo zone where they were photographed as a family with the Bible. After thatt, each family had the opportunity to create and draw a family tree.
The celebration began with a prayer and worship, praising the Lord who made us and our families. Then Pastor Mikhail Biryukov spoke the word of exhortation for the parents and children. He spoke about the importance of studying God's Word as a family, the role parents in bringing up their children. The examples given by pastor Mikhail, were vivid and memorable.
Then there was a time for a Bible program. Participants, families with children, faced difficult tasks: to draw their family's coat of arms, arranged the Bible characters in chronology according to the dates of birth, make words from the letters of the word “Compassion”, put things in order on the 'bookshelves' of the Old and New Testaments, heads of the families participated in a contest of biblical men – they were to show different biblical characters without words. At this time, the audience were to support participants, and actively took part in the event, as well. They sang songs with motions, answered questions of the Bible quiz.
The jury of the festival was challenged: how to determine the winner when all the participants are trying their best?! As a result, the winners were chosen in the following nominations: “Dad can do anything”, “One for all – and all for one”, “They that wait upon the Lord” and others.
At the festival, participants and guests recognized the importance of reading the Bible as a family and received memorable family photos with the Bible.
We thank God for this festival and believe His word and His presence filled the hearts of all the guests! We hope that with God's help we will be able to hold other events, which will be led by the Lord and His word!
