Church in Kostroma helps refugees from Ukraine

In Russia
KOSTROMA (RUSSIA) - The consequences of the situation that prevailed in the south-east of Ukraine, affected not only the Ukrainian people, but Russia as a whole. Our city, Kostroma, is no exception. The total number of displaced people from the Ukraine in the Kostroma region has reached 790 people.

Transfiguration Church took an active part in helping these people. Was established contacts with people who meet and accommodate refugees. We have put a few families in the house of prayer.

We do not concentrate on helping any specific families, but accept people, help them find jobs, housing, prepare all necessary documents, and when it's all done, we're going back to a point where refugees come, we take new families and help them to settle in our town.

At the moment, 36 people went through our house of prayer. They are both elderly people, and young families with children. Brothers and sisters in Christ help with food products, find shelter, donate finances and clothes. People who we don't even know respond to the call to help refugees from Ukraine; these people are not indifferent to the need, and we are very thankful to them.

The Lord is calling us to do all we can for salvation of human souls, and who knows, maybe this is one way to bring people to Christ. Several families have already attended the church services, they share their needs in the church, we pray for them, and God answers! Our God is loving and His mercy is great for all those in need and seeking His face!

We invite all the faithful to pray for these people, and as the Lord leads help them in difficult situation. Please, show them love and compassion.

«The one who is gracious to the poor lends to the Lord, and the Lord will repay him for his good deed» (Prov. 19:17). God bless you all!
