Why youth ministry? Do we really need it? What is it supposed to be? Because of their importance for today’s church, these prevalent questions need to be answered. We must accept this challenge, humbling ourselves before God to fulfill His supreme will. “Look, I am sending you the prophet Elijah before the great and dreadful day of the Lord arrives. His preaching will turn the hearts of parents to their children, and the hearts of children to their parents. Otherwise I will come and strike the land with a curse”. (Mal 4:5-6 NLT)
First, the future of our society and church belongs to the youth. In the next generation we will see the things that we put into the minds of young people of our generation. These things will be seen through the good or bad behavior of people. That is why it is necessary for us to teach the principles of the Creator, the Savior of our lives Jesus Christ.
Second, young people need to have fellowship and serve the Lord together because they have very similar interests, hobbies and so on.
Third, this is how we need to bring up the next generation in the spirit of acceptance and mutual understanding with the previous generation. We need to build bridges, not walls!
Purpose
The youth ministry should be a real ministry. It should attract the new generation of young people to church. That is why the internal structure and the environment on the youth fellowship should be made in the Spirit of grace and love, so that young people, who are coming to church, might join it without any problems.
The aims of the youth ministry, as I see them, are the following: bringing young people to Jesus, and the development of their relationship with Jesus, helping them to become mature Christians; also it develops relationships between people. It unifies the youth of the church, they make new friends.
Functions
The youth ministry’s function is working with young believers inside the church and also reaching young people who are unbelievers for their salvation and bringing them to church, into a personal relationship with Jesus. It is also working together in collaboration with other people, to achieving God’s purposes.
Plans
My prayer is to see many young people saved, who will give their lives to Jesus Christ, and also many Christians, who will devote their lives to Him. It is also my prayer for the formation of a team of young people in the church to fulfill God’s intensions, the Great Commission given by the Lord. With a foundation of knowledge and practical service the team will continue to pass the Gospel to the next generation. This is my plan, to achieve this vision.
Principles of work
To achieve this vision, we should use the Christian principles of praising Jesus with our lives, tongues, and thoughts, to be open and trusting in Jesus and His leading, to be humble before God and obedient to the leaders of the church. The basis of our faith and actions are in God’s principles, which are given in the Bible and inspired by the Holy Spirit.
